Highlighters, blushes, and bronzers do what foundation takes away: adds dimension, color, and warmth back into the skin. Highlighters illuminate what features you would like to bring out. Blush restores the natural flush to your cheeks. Bronzer can work as blush, skin tone transformer, and contour enhancer. For makeup beginners, it’s best to practice with blush first, and as you build your comfort level with makeup, you can graduate in both highlighters and blushes.

Pro-Tip: When using bronzer as contour, use bronzer with no shimmer or luminzing properties. Shimmer in bronzers can give an unnatural effect when used as contour.

For those ready to venture into advanced makeup skills with bronzing and highlighting, renowned Makeup Artist, Jordan Liberty created a comprehensive face chart (below), showing you the proper placement of highlighters, blushes, and bronzers.
